Disinformation Alert

Disinformation Alert

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is issuing this advisory to address false information and misleading representation of images circulating on social media. These posts are designed to create division and discredit the integrity of your AFP. We present the following facts to set the record straight.

FALSE CLAIM: An image and narrative allege that an active-duty Marine was used for illicit activities, based on his supposed "testimony."

FACT: The individual mentioned, Mr. Orly Guteza, has been a civilian since his retirement on June 30, 2020. His private work for a legislator began four years later in 2024. The central claim is chronologically impossible and therefore fabricated.

FALSE CLAIM: A photo of AFP officials with the then House Speaker is presented as evidence of an improper allegiance.

FACT: The photo shows a routine and official courtesy call. Such professional meetings between military leadership and officials from other government branches are a standard, transparent procedure. The context of the photo has been maliciously twisted to create a false narrative.

These are clear attempts to sow doubt and erode trust in your Armed Forces. The AFP is a professional and disciplined organization serving the Filipino people with honor and integrity.
We call on everyone not to be swayed by disinformation but to remain discerning and uphold the truth.
