CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City--The Department of National Defense and the Armed Forces of the Philippines held their traditional New Year’s Call led by Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro Jr and AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr on January 12 here.
The Joint DND-AFP Traditional New Year’s Call is a time-honored of the Defense Department and the AFP where defense officials and high-ranking officers render a call to Secretary Teodoro Jr and General Brawner Jr. The gathering also included Senior Military Assistants of the President and SND and GHQ Civilian Officials, Foreign Armed Forces Attaches, Presidents of Financial Institutions, AFP and Major Services’ Sergeants Major and their respective spouses.
The New Year’s Call served as an opportunity for the DND Secretary and AFP Chief of Staff to highlight the organizations’ accomplishments in the past year as well as to reaffirm their commitment to the flag and country. It is also a venue for the top defense and military leaders to convey their message and guidance for the coming year.
“The past year was filled with accomplishments and triumphs that have etched their marks upon the foundations of our mission. We have demonstrated unwavering proficiency, resilience, and dedication. As we acknowledge the successes of 2023, we must recognize the honor, spirit, and commitment of each and every member of the defense department and the AFP,” General Brawner Jr said.
