CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- General Romeo S Brawner Jr., Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), reaffirmed the military's commitment to peace and democratic stability during official visits on August 19 to the Western Mindanao Command (WESMINCOM) at Camp General Basilio Navarro in Zamboanga City and the 6th Infantry “Kampilan” Division at Camp Siongco in Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte.
The visit follows recent operational successes in Sulu and Zamboanga, where troops displayed outstanding bravery and commitment. During his visit to Camp Navarro General Hospital in Zamboanga City, General Brawner personally met with soldiers wounded during a focused military operation. He commended their courage and resilience, describing them as a source of inspiration to the entire organization.
With the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) preparing for its historic first regular parliamentary elections, General Brawner emphasized the AFP's crucial responsibility in ensuring an orderly and peaceful electoral process.
“We must prepare ourselves for any eventualities,” he emphasized. “We are one of the few institutions trusted by the Filipino people to keep our country stable. We must not be shaken—we should remain solid and professional in fulfilling our duty.”
General Brawner praised the valor and dedication of the troops involved, noting that their efforts reflect the AFP’s broader mission to uphold national sovereignty and ensure the safety of Filipino communities.
The AFP remains steadfast in its mission to protect the nation, uphold peace and order, and contribute to long-term development across the country.
