CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) welcomed Colonel Emil J Cruz as the new Commander of the General Headquarters and Headquarters Service Command (GHQ&HSC) in a Change of Command Ceremony held on October 23, here.
AFP Vice Chief of Staff LtGen Jimmy D Larida presided over the ceremony, commending the dedicated leadership and service of Colonel Paul Anthony R Guerrero, who relinquished his post as Acting Commander and will now serve as Deputy Commander of the GHQ&HSC.
Colonel Cruz, a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Tanglaw-Diwa” Class of 1992, previously served as Acting Commander of the 402nd Infantry “Stinger” Brigade. He also holds a Master’s degree in National Security Administration program at the National Defense College of the Philippines.
In his remarks, LtGen Larida commended both officers, citing Colonel Cruz’s appointment as a mark of trust and confidence from AFP leadership and Colonel Guerrero’s professionalism and steadfast service that kept the command efficient and mission-ready during the transition.
The ceremony highlighted the AFP’s commitment to leadership continuity and organizational excellence, ensuring that every command remains aligned with the AFP’s mission of protecting the people and securing the state.
