CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – A member of the communist terrorist New People’s Army (NPA) was killed in an encounter with Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) troops in Palanas, Masbate on Monday, May 2.
Operating troops from the Philippine Army’s 2nd Infantry Battalion encountered the NPA member along with four others at Brgy. San Isidro in Palanas.
Firefight between the two forces lasted for five minutes after which, the enemy withdrew toward the adjacent barangay.
Government troops seized a 357 revolver from the encounter site.
The killed NPA fighter was believed to be a member of the communist terrorist group operating under a leader called ‘Warren’.
Aside from election duty, the AFP continues its operations against the communist terrorist groups to ensure the safety of the people nationwide.///
