CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – A communist terrorist New People's Army (NPA) was killed in a firefight with AFP troops in Negros Occidental on Tuesday, May 3.
Responding to the report of concerned citizens on the presence of the armed group in their barangays, operating troops of the Philippine Army's 15th Infantry Battalion under the 3rd Infantry Division encountered about five NPAs in Barangay Gatuslao, Candoni, Negros Occidental.
The firefight lasted for about 15 minutes, after which the enemies escaped, leaving behind their dead comrades.
The troops seized an M16 rifle, caliber .45 pistol, various magazines, and rounds of ammunition at the encounter site.
One soldier hurt in the encounter was immediately given first aid and is now safe from danger.
15th Infantry Battalion and Gatuslao Police conducted a pursuit operation to locate and capture the fleeing terrorists.///
