CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Philippines and Cambodia charted a new course in maritime defense cooperation as the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Vice Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Jimmy D Larida welcomed Vice Admiral Tea Sokha, Commander of the Royal Cambodian Navy, in a courtesy visit on June 9 here.
During the dialogue, both military leaders explored avenues for enhanced collaboration, including joint maritime security initiatives and capacity-building efforts to better respond to the evolving challenges in Southeast Asia’s strategic sea lanes.
A key highlight of the discussion was the mutual interest in expanding professional military education exchanges, particularly through the Command and General Staff Course (CGSC).
This engagement is part of the AFP’s broader defense diplomacy efforts under the ASEAN framework, reinforcing regional unity, interoperability, and mutual trust among partner nations in the region.
