CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Vice Chief of Staff LtGen Jimmy D Larida welcomed LtGen Christian F Wortman, Commanding General of the I Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF), U.S. Marine Corps, during a courtesy visit held on November 13, here.
The meeting highlighted the unique camaraderie shared between fellow Marines and underscored the strong, enduring partnership between the AFP and the U.S. Armed Forces. LtGen Larida expressed gratitude for U.S. support in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) operations, which have further strengthened the AFP’s capacity to respond swiftly and decisively to natural disasters and other emergencies.
Additionally, discussions emphasized joint training exercises, including preparations for next year’s Balikatan, ensuring that the AFP is fully prepared to respond not only to natural disasters but also to strengthen its defense capabilities.
The visit reaffirmed the AFP’s commitment to strengthening international defense cooperation, enhancing mutual understanding, and advancing regional peace and security. Discussions centered on shared security interests, operational collaboration, and strategies to safeguard national sovereignty.
