The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) warns the public about the deliberate and malicious circulation of a spliced video that grossly distorts the statement of the Chief of Staff, AFP, regarding the institution's loyalty.
A highly misleading clip, which falsely suggests that the AFP is loyal to the “position” but not the “people,” has been taken out of its full and crucial context.
In the full, unedited video of his speech delivered during the flag-raising ceremony at the General Headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo on November 25, 2024 (watch here: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=3907572889518198), General Brawner clearly stated:
“We are loyal to the Constitution, and this also goes to say that we are loyal to the duly constituted authorities—whoever that may be. Hindi po tayo loyal sa tao, kundi sa posisyon. And in that vow that we took, ‘yung panata natin, sinabi natin na we will continue to uphold the Constitution.”
