AFP Joins the Commemoration of National Heroes Day

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City— The Armed Forces of the Philippines joined President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the entire nation in commemorating National Heroes Day today, August 26 at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, Taguig City.
A flag-raising ceremony was held, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony, where President Marcos Jr., accompanied by AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S Brawner Jr., offered tributes symbolizing the nation’s respect and gratitude towards those who have given their lives in service to the country.

In his address, President Marcos Jr. emphasized the enduring legacy of Filipino heroes and the importance of upholding their values of courage and selflessness, “our heroes’ stories of courage, resilience, and patriotism bear even greater significance now that we are on the journey to becoming a truly revitalized and united nation. In honoring our heroes, we affirm as our own the values, virtues, and ideals they stood for."

National Heroes Day is a time for the nation to pause and remember the courage of those who have shaped the Philippines into the free and sovereign state it is today. The AFP’s participation underscores its role in preserving the values of heroism and national pride.
