
CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—General Romeo Brawner Jr, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP), and H.E. Luc Véron, Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to the Philippines, are expecting more engagements between the Philippines and EU member states in the future.
The two met and discussed pertinent security matters during the ambassador’s courtesy visit at the AFP General Headquarters here on October 20.
“The ambassador relayed their side’s intention to increase engagement with the Philippines due to its geopolitical importance to the EU and significance to the protection of its interests in the region,” said LtCol Enrico Gil Ileto, the AFP Public Affairs Chief.
“He also expressed their desire to remain as a partner in the emergence of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao through institution-building and socio-economic programs, to which the CSAFP expressed his profound gratitude for,” LtCol Ileto added.
General Brawner Jr in turn committed its support to EU’s programs in the Philippines and praised their clear positive effects the development and improved security in Mindanao.///
