CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) convened the 2nd Quarter CY 2025 AFP Multi-Sector Governance Council (MSGC) Regular Meeting on June 17, 2025 at the PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Philippines, Isla Lipana & Co., AIA Tower, Makati City as hosted by one of the AFP MSGC members in the person of Atty. Alexander B. Cabrera – PwC Chairperson Emeritus.
The session was co-chaired by AFP MSGC Chairperson Mr. Francisco F. Del Rosario Jr. and AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S Brawner Jr., with participation from AFP Vice Chief f Staff LtGen Jimmy D Larida; MGen Rey B Alemania, Acting AFP Deputy Chief of Staff; fellow MSGC members; and selected officers from the AFP Joint and Special Staff.
Discussions focused on the AFP’s continuing transformation initiatives, emphasizing institutional reforms that enhance governance, transparency, and accountability. Committee updates were presented on key areas including cybersecurity, reservist training, and developments in defense and security legislation—both enacted and pending.
The Council also tackled strategic plans for AFP modernization, improved public communication, media and youth engagement, enhanced disaster response, and the strengthening of external defense and peacekeeping initiatives.
In his remarks, General Brawner underscored the critical role of the MSGC in aligning AFP programs with the principles of good governance and institutional integrity. “I would like to thank the MSGC members for your contributions. Your insights help shape policies and programs that reflect the values of transparency, accountability, and excellence,” he said. “Your time and effort are investments in building a more credible AFP and a stronger, more progressive Philippines.”
