AFP holds Senior Enlisted Personnel Leadership Forum, strengthens leadership and supportive organizational environment

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) conducted a two-day Senior Enlisted Personnel Leadership Forum on March 25-26, 2025, here. The forum gathered Sergeant Majors from AFPWSSUs/Tenant Units and Chief Clerks/NCOs from the JPS Staffs where they actively engaged in an open forum to reinforce its leadership, and promote supportive organizational environment.

On March 25, the Office of the Command Sergeant Major (OCSM) led a Mental Health Awareness Lecture, which focused on the importance of mental health and well-being.

Among invited speakers were BGen Fatima Claire S Navarro, the AFP’s Surgeon General (TSG); Ms. Rosario S Abendan of the TSG Office; and Mr. Antonio Rivera, Chief Psychologist, Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo Station Hospital (CGEASH). The discussion addressed factors impacting the discipline, morale, and welfare of personnel, promoting a more resilient and supportive AFP environment.

Meanwhile, on March 26, the General Headquarters and Headquarters Service Command (GHQ & HSC), led by BGen Armand M Arevalo, GHQ & HSC Commander, and Colonel Xerxes A Trinidad, Chief of the Public Affairs Office, AFP (PAOAFP), facilitated a discussion on leadership strategies and key AFP initiatives.

The Forum reaffirms the AFP’s dedication to empowering its personnel, ensuring a well-informed and unified force prepared to address evolving challenges in national defense, security, and gender inclusivity.

CSAFP dons rank to newly promoted senior military officers

Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City— General Romeo S Brawner Jr., Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines donned ranks to five newly promoted Generals and Flag Officer in a ceremony today, here.

The promoted officers were led by Major General Oliver C Maquiling, Commander of the Civil Relations Service, AFP (CRSAFP). Also promoted were Major General Peter B Burgonio, Commander of the Presidential Security Command (PSC); Major General Jonjie C Juguilon, the AFP’s Chief Engineer; Commodore Luidegar C Casis, Chief of the Pension and Gratuity Management Center, AFP (AFPPGMC); and Brigadier General Gilbert Roy S Ruiz, Deputy Commander of the Intelligence Service, AFP (ISAFP).

This event reflects the AFP’s continued commitment to strengthening its leadership and enhancing its role in securing the nation’s defense.

SOCOM Celebrates 7th Founding Anniversary, reinforces commitment to excellence in special operations

Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City— The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Special Operations Command (SOCOM) commemorated its 7th Founding Anniversary in a ceremony held on April 2 at Fort Magsaysay, Palayan City, Nueva Ecija. With the theme, “Excellence in Joint Special Operations Amidst Security Challenges,” it was presided over by General Romeo S Brawner Jr., AFP Chief of Staff, who served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.

General Brawner was joined by Acting Commander of SOCOM, Brigadier General Patrick B De Villa, along with other military and civilian personnel. The anniversary celebration underscored SOCOM’s continued excellence in executing joint special operations, reinforcing its vital role in ensuring national security and contributing to the overall success of the AFP’s mission.

During the event, several individuals were honored for their remarkable service and unwavering efforts that have directly contributed to the success of SOCOM’s operations.

In his address, General Brawner commended SOCOM for upholding its legacy of professionalism and excellence, "You haven’t just met challenges; you have redefined them, turning potential threats into narratives of triumph," General Brawner said. “With SOCOM’s exceptional record of achievements, it’s clear that our nation rests in stable, secure hands.”

AFP conducts Senior Leaders Forum to promote gender inclusivity

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) concluded its observance of National Women’s Month 2025 with a Senior Leaders Forum on Gender and Development on March 28 here, underscoring the AFP’s continued commitment to advancing policies that promote inclusivity within the organization.

The event, organized by the AFP’s Gender and Development Office (AFPGADO) and led by its Chief, Captain Venus G Gualdaquever, focused on the theme: “Advancing Peace, Empowering Women, Strengthening Collaboration: Senior Leaders’ Forum on Women, Peace, and Security.”

Among the invited speakers were Ms. Susana Guadalupe H. Marcaida, Executive Director of the Office of Peace and Sustainability of OPAPRU, and Captain Norsal D Dimaporo, Chief of the AFP Peace and Development Office (AFPPDO).

The forum underscored the AFP’s dedication to empowering its personnel, particularly women, and reinforcing the role of gender inclusivity in national defense and security.
