Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City—Eight soldiers, including three CAFGUs, were killed and five were wounded in separate landmine attacks in Tulunan, North Cotabato today, October 21.
The first attack occurred at the boundary of Barangays Caridad and Bituan at around 9:20 a.m. when troops of the 38th Infantry Battalion, on administrative duty delivering subsistence allowance to auxiliary forces, were landmined; triggering a firefight where seven government troops were killed and one was wounded.
A few hours later at around 11:25 troops under the 57th Infantry Battalion were also landmined while on their way to Barangay New Caridad also in Tulunan. Four were wounded and one was killed in the incident.

CAMP GENERAL EMILIO AGUINALDO, Quezon City –The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) deployed two C-130 aircraft and three naval logistic ships to transport a total of 285,000-lbs relief goods to Tagbilaran, Bohol in aid of the evacuees affected by the recent earthquake.
Two C-130 aircraft from the Philippine Air Force departed Villamor Air Base in Pasay yesterday to transport 48,000 lbs of assorted relief goods from Philippine National Red Cross and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to Tagbilaran, Bohol. Its Sokol choppers are also on standby for further distribution of relief goods to said area.

Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City—The Armed Forces of the Philippines has deployed its Water Sanitation Teams to help in producing potable water in addressing shortages in evacuation areas in Bohol and Cebu hit by the 7.2 earthquake last October 15.
Said teams composed of Army and Navy soldiers operate water purifiers capable of converting unsanitized water into reliable drinking water for up to 32,000 liters per hour. They are currently in Masbate City and will head towards Cebu City then Bohol via Roll-On Roll-Off Vessel.

Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City—Several junior and senior officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, in support to Hero Foundation, Inc. (HFI), shared their experiences as soldiers to Grade 6 students in an effort to promote nationalism and discipline in Assumption College, Makati City.
Led by the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations BGen Lysander A Suerte and Public Affairs Office Chief LTC Ramon P Zagala, the discussion held last Thursday centered on the duties and responsibilities of soldiers, as well as the dangers that face them in the field.

CAMP GENERAL EMILIO AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) welcomed Major General Virgilio Domingo as its new Deputy Chief of Staff in a change of chief of office ceremony held today at the AFP Commissioned Officers Club.
Maj. Gen. Domingo (right) replaced Lt. Gen. Gregorio Macapagal (left) who has served as the AFP’s Deputy Chief of Staff since March 2012. The AFP Chief of Staff, General Emmanuel T. Bautista (middle) presided over the ceremony earlier today.
