AFPHSC, NKTI conduct World Kidney Day Lay Forum 2023

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines Health Service Command (AFPHSC), in partnership with the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI), joined the celebration of 17th World Kidney Day (WKD) through a Lay Forum conducted today, at the AFP General Headquarters.

Celebrated on March 9 with the 2023 theme: "Kidney Health for All: Preparing for the Unexpected, Supporting the Vulnerable," the campaign for World Kidney Day aims to raise awareness of the prevention and impacts of kidney-related diseases and to promote the mindset of constant preparedness in times of uncertainties and the importance of kidney health for an individual's overall wellness.

TRIBUTE TO SOLDIERS

The OIC-DND, Senior USec Carlito Galvez Jr, and Dr. Dante A. Ang Sr., chairperson emeritus of The Manila Times, sign on March 27 the "manifesto of support" to the first ever "Tribute to Soldiers" that will recognize exemplary military personnel.
 
Ten soldiers will be awarded based on their contribution in the combat zone; outstanding community service; innovations in administrative and logistics functions; and achievement in education. Each category will have three (3) awardees except the Education category. Special recognition will also be given to military personnel manning outposts in the West Philippine Sea (WPS).

Marine Commandant assumes as the new TDCSAFP

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City--Major General Charlton Sean Gaerlan PN(M) assumed as the new The Deputy Chief of Staff, AFP (TDCSAFP) in a ceremony presided by the CSAFP, General Andres Centino, today at the AFP Headquarters.

He replaced LtGen William Gonzales, The Inspector General AFP, who was the designated acting TDCSAFP following the retirement of VAdm Rommel Anthony Reyes on March 15.

AFP Chief visits Samar troops, echoes mission to end insurgency

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP), General Andres C Centino PA, visited troops of the 74th Infantry Battalion (74IB), 2nd Infantry Division (2ID); and the 19th Infantry Battalion (19IB), 801st Infantry Brigade, and 803rd Infantry Brigade, all of 8th Infantry Division (8ID), Philippine Army in Northern Samar on March 24, 2023.
 
In his talk to the troops, the CSAFP reiterated his thrusts to eliminate security threats and maintain peace in the country. He urged them to focus and strengthen their efforts in performing the mission to end local terrorism in Samar.

AFP units neutralize five communist NPA terrorists, gain 46 firearms

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—Units of the AFP reported the neutralization of five communist terrorists as the military also gained 46 firearms for the past week as part of ramped-up efforts to end armed violence in various parts of the country.
 
Three more firearms were gained in a focused military operation on March 17 when members of the 38IB fought around 20 CTs in Kiamba, Sarangani.
