Death of NPA spokesman, a big blow to CTG in Central Visayas

Romeo Nanta who used the nom de guerre Juanito Magbanua was killed in an encounter in Brgy. Carabalan, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental on October 10, 2022. His death is a big blow to the CPP/NPA/NDF.

Nanta is the spokesperson of the Communist Terrorist Group's Apolinario Gatmaitan Command and Commanding Officer of the Regional Operational Command of the NPA units operating in Negros Island and the entire Central Visayas region. He is directly responsible for all the crimes committed by NPA members under his command. He has existing warrants of arrest for rebellion, robbery-in-band, and attempted and frustrated murder.

LTGEN BARTOLOME VICENTE O BACARRO PA, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and ADMIRAL JOHN C AQUILINO, Commander of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command co-chaired the 2022 Mutual Defense Board and Security Engagement Board (MDB-SEB)on 27 September 2022.

The Mutual Defense Board and Security Engagement Board was created to tackle traditional and non-traditional security concerns faced by both the Philippines and the United States as partners. It is composed of key leaders from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, Philippine Coast Guard, Department of National Defense, and the Department of Foreign Affairs.

AFP highlights accomplishments for PBBM’s 1st 100 days

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The Armed Forces of the Philippines highlights its accomplishments in its various campaigns and ongoing programs that contributed to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr’s first 100 days in office.

These accomplishments include gains in internal peace and security operations, external defense, modernization and capability development, and international bilateral and multi-lateral engagements.

AFP forms fact-finding committee for missing labor activists

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The AFP created a fact-finding committee that will “conduct speedy, comprehensive, and exhaustive investigation” on the continued disappearance of labor activists Elizabeth Magbanua and Alipio Juat.

This was done through a letter directive dated October 5, 2022, which is one of the AFP’s actions in compliance with the Petition for Writ of Amparo filed by the relatives of the missing persons before the Supreme Court and granted by the Court of Appeals in a decision on September 9.

AFP submits thousands of CTG human rights abuses to CHR

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City— The Director of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Center for Law of Armed Conflict (AFPCLOAC), BGEN JOEL ALEJANDRO S NACNAC PA submitted on October 6 (Thursday) thousands of recorded Communist Terrorist Group's (CTG's) human rights abuses to the Commission on Human Rights (CHR).

Chairperson Hon. Richard P Palpal-Latoc received the list of 2,443 Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) Human Rights (HR) abuses from CYs 1968 to 2009, and resubmitted HR/IHL CTG violations covering 2010 to 1st Semester 2022.
