CAMP AGUINALDO, QUEZON CITY - Three (3) soldiers were killed and several Civilian Armed Force Geographical Unit Active Auxiliary (CAA) were injured when members of the New People’s Army (NPA) set-up an ambush by detonating three (3) claymore type anti-personnel mines (APM) in Jipapad, Eastern Samar early Wednesday, July 7.
The soldiers were unarmed while walking towards their newly constructed detachment in SitioCabatas, Barangay 4 in Jipapad town. Since they were unarmed and no capacity to fight,they ceased to be combatants, hence they are protected by IHL.

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – Helping the government promote a peaceful and secure nation, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Monday enjoined its members to register for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).
“The Philippine ID will not only provide us with a valid proof of identification, it will help government forces in the effort to hunt down terrorists, criminals and unscrupulous individuals who hide behind false identifies,” AFP Vice Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Erickson Gloria said.

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Friday positively identified another cadaver from the crashed C-130 aircraft making the total count of recognized bodies to 20.
The body was of Airman First Class Fortunate Regidor of the Philippine Air Force which is now being prepared for air transport.

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – To honor and recognize the services of 49 soldiers killed in the crashed C-130 aircraft, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) observed a week-long national solemnity that culminated in an interfaith memorial service held Saturday, July 10.
“We are giving the highest tribute we can offer, to our comrades who made the ultimate sacrifice. We bear upon our shoulders the sacred responsibility of remembering their resolute faith and passion as they sought to fulfil their sworn mandate to protect and serve the Filipino people,” said AFP Vice Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Erickson Gloria who led the activity.
