AFP Chief visits Samar troops, echoes mission to end insurgency

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP), General Andres C Centino PA, visited troops of the 74th Infantry Battalion (74IB), 2nd Infantry Division (2ID); and the 19th Infantry Battalion (19IB), 801st Infantry Brigade, and 803rd Infantry Brigade, all of 8th Infantry Division (8ID), Philippine Army in Northern Samar on March 24, 2023.
 
In his talk to the troops, the CSAFP reiterated his thrusts to eliminate security threats and maintain peace in the country. He urged them to focus and strengthen their efforts in performing the mission to end local terrorism in Samar.

AFP units neutralize five communist NPA terrorists, gain 46 firearms

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—Units of the AFP reported the neutralization of five communist terrorists as the military also gained 46 firearms for the past week as part of ramped-up efforts to end armed violence in various parts of the country.
 
Three more firearms were gained in a focused military operation on March 17 when members of the 38IB fought around 20 CTs in Kiamba, Sarangani.

CSAFP visits troops in Visayas, relays orders to end armed conflict

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City— The Chief of Staff, AFP General Andres C Centino PA, visited the troops of the Visayas Command (VISCOM) on March 23 as part of his efforts to personally assess the capability and morale of military personnel as they push for the completion of their mission.

He was accompanied by members of his staff, including MGen Gabriel Viray III, the Deputy Chief of Staff (DCS) for Civil-Military Operations, J7; BGen Fernando Reyeg, the DCS for Operations, J3; BGen Ferdinand Barandon, the Acting DCS for Intelligence, J2; and MCPO Joe Marie Lucero, the Acting AFP Sergeant Major.

CSAFP lauds PH-India defense relations

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City— The Chief of Staff, AFP (CSAFP) General Andres C Centino PA hailed the stronger defense diplomacy relations between the Philippines and India as he addressed the delegates of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Day 2023 Reception on March 22 in Taguig City.

ITEC is India's international capacity-building platform that offers training for civilian and military officials from over 160 countries. Administered by India's Ministry of External Affairs, it has so far catered to 200,000 officials in the areas of defense, artificial intelligence, cyber technologies, engineering and technology, agriculture, health, and governance.
