AFP installs new Internal Auditor, PGMC Chief

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) welcomed the new The Internal Auditor, AFP and the Chief, AFP Pension and Gratuity Management Center (PGMC) in a Joint Change of Chiefs of Office Ceremony presided by the Vice Chief of Staff, AFP (VCSAFP), LtGen Arthur M Cordura PAF on May 03 at the AFP General Headquarters.
 
MGen Joel Alejandro S Nacnac PA, who recently assumed his post as the new Deputy Chief of Staff for Reservist and Retiree Affairs, J9, turned over his responsibilities as The Internal Auditor, AFP to Col Rodyer B Dela Peña PN(M), who will be leading the Office of The Internal Auditor (OTIA) in an acting capacity.

Two EDCA Sites as staging areas for Tubbataha Reef Search and Rescue effort

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City - Two sites of the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) were used as staging areas to help in the search and rescue (SAR) operations for missing divers in Tubbataha Reef.
 
Three U.S. air assets stationed in Antonio Bautista Air Base, Puerto Princesa and Benito Ebuen Air Base in Mactan, Cebu are being utilized to help in the ongoing mission to find four (4) missing Filipino divers after their boat sunk in Tubbataha on April 30.

PH-US-JP TRILATERAL ENGAGEMENT

General Andres Centino, the AFP Chief of Staff; Admiral John Aquilino, commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command; and General Yoshihide Yoshida, Chief of Staff of the Joint Staff, Japan Self-Defense Force committed to promote trilateral military cooperation during their video teleconference meeting on April 28.
 
The conference was held to affirm the PH-US-Japan partnership in advancing a rules-based international order and realizing peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. The PH and US generals also welcomed General Yoshida who was just recently appointed to his present position.

Shoulder-to-shoulder, Philippines and United States conclude largest Balikatan exercise

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines hosted the closing ceremony of Exercise Balikatan 2023 here today, marking the successful conclusion of the largest combined-joint military exercise between the Republic of the Philippines and the United States of America.

Over the last three weeks, more than 17,600 total combined troops from the AFP and the U.S. military, joined by approximately 100 members of the Australian Defence Force, trained shoulder-to-shoulder at locations throughout the Philippines in order to increase proficiency in maritime security, amphibious operations, live-fire training, urban operations, aviation operations, counterterrorism operations, and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
