Philippines, United States, Australia and Japan hold first Multilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity in West Philippine Sea

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), United States Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM), Australian Defence Force (ADF) and Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF) successfully conducted the first Multilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity (MMCA) in the West Philippine Sea on Sunday, April 7. 

AFP Hosts Pre-Sail Briefing for Historic Multilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) hosted a pre-sail conference for the inaugural Multilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity (MCA) on Saturday, April 6. 

Key planning members from the AFP, Australian Defence Force, Japan Self Defense Force, and United States Indo-Pacific Command convened at the Headquarters, Western Command in Puerto Princesa, to finalize plans for this historic activity. Scheduled within the Philippine Exclusive Economic Zone, the MCA underscores the commitment to uphold international law while promoting peace and stability in the region.

AFP, US military elevate partnership through first Information Warfighter Exercise 

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines and the United States military successfully completed the inaugural Information Warfighter Exercise (IWX) from April 1 to 5, here at the General Headquarters. 

The week-long exercise strengthened interoperability between AFP and US information operations planners, empowered the AFP with enhanced IO capabilities, and set the standard for future local IO training programs. Key law enforcement agencies such as the Philippine National Police and the Philippine Coast Guard, actively engaged in the exercise, emphasizing its comprehensive scope and significance in strengthening national defense strategies.

Gen Brawner Jr, US Sec Kendall discuss PH-US military alliance

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—General Romeo Brawner Jr, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and United States Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall discussed Philippine-United States military alliance during the latter’s courtesy visit on April 5 to the AFP General Headquarters here.

The two affirmed the continuation of military engagements and cooperative work, including maritime cooperative activity, bilateral exercises, and EDCA sites projects, as a message to the world of the ironclad alliance between the two countries.

AFP holds 24th Multi-Sector Governance Council Meeting

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The Armed Forces of the Philippines’ Multi-Sector Governance Council (MSGC) held its 24th Regular Meeting on April 3 at the AFP General Headquarters here.

General Romeo Brawner Jr, Chief of Staff of the AFP, and Mr Francisco Del Rosario Jr, MSGC Chairperson, presided over the meeting that was geared at pursuing transparency and accountability by seeking the civilian sector’s perspective on the AFP’s transformation initiative.
