Live Fire Exercises showcase HIMARS, coastal defense abilities

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- On May 2nd, the combined forces of the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) and the United States Marine Corps (USMC) conducted a successful live-fire exercise as part of Exercise Balikatan. The exercise, held at Campong Ulay in the coastal town of Rizal, Palawan, showcased the capabilities of the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) and other key assets in a simulated coastal defense scenario.

The day began with a booming display of HIMARS firing several rockets at mock targets in the West Philippine Sea (WPS). The precision and long-range hitting capabilities of this state-of-the-art artillery system demonstrated its importance in contemporary conflict scenarios.

TDCSAFP welcomes new Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City- LtGen Charlton Sean Gaerlan, The Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (TDCSAFP), on behalf of AFP Chief General Romeo Brawner Jr., welcomed Acting Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations Commodore Peter Jempsun De Guzman, as he assumed office succeeding LtGen Fernando Reyeg, here on May 03, 2024.

During the ceremony, LtGen Gaerlan honored LtGen Reyeg for his expertise and exemplary service, which has been significant in OJ3’s successful operations over the years. He also commended LtGen Reyeg for his leadership in crafting and executing various programs and organization developments, such as the publication of the AFP Territorial Defense Plan “Bantay Kalayaan,” which served as a strategic guidance for the AFP in securing the nation’s territorial integrity and maritime sovereignty.

AFP conducts Aerial Resupply exercise at Patag Island in West Philippine Sea

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) successfully conducted an aerial resupply operation at Patag Island on April 27, 2024. 

The Philippine Air Force NC212i aircraft was used to deliver essential goods to include food and medicine to government troops deployed on the remote island. The exercise aimed to conduct aerial resupply operation in two separate cargo drop scenarios; utilizing a parachute directly onto the island and cargo drop into the sea for retrieval by the stationed personnel.

Filipino troops observe U.S. Army's Medical Capabilities in Cagayan

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – Members of the Forward Service Medical Company (FSMC) under the 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, actively participated in a capability demonstration organized by the 10th Field Hospital of the United States Army at the Cagayan North International Airport in Lal-lo, Cagayan on Monday, April 29.

The demonstration sought to foster knowledge exchange and enhance interoperability between the AFP and the U.S. Army. FSMC personnel were able to observe and engage with their U.S. Army counterparts, gaining valuable insights into the latest medical practices and techniques used in military operations.

Filipino, American para-jumpers hold successful Military Free Fall exercise in Palawan

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – A successful Military Free Fall (MFF) Jump Exercise was conducted in Long Beach, San Vicente, Palawan on April 30, 2024, as part of the 39th annual Balikatan Exercise between the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the United States Indo-Pacific Command (US-INDOPACOM).
Para-jumpers from the Philippine Marine Corps Reconnaissance, Special Operations Wing of the Philippine Air Force, Special Forces Regiment Airborne, and their U.S. counterparts took part in the exercise. Members from the Australian Defence Force also joined as observers. The MFF Jump was a key component of the Balikatan Exercise, emphasizing the importance of interoperability and joint training.
