Brawner to Security Sector Athletes: Filipinos depend on us for Peace and Freedom

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – Officially marking the beginning of friendly competitions among Philippine uniformed services, atheletes participating in the AFP-PNP-PCG-BFP-BJMP Olympics 2023 were reminded of their role for peace and freedom of Filipinos in an opening ceremony October 10 at the Lapu-Lapu Grandstand here. 

“This event is one way for us to develop our camaraderie. Being members of the uniformed services of the Philippines, we are a proud organization. Marami po sa ating mga kababayan ang umaasa sa atin para sa kalayaan ng ating bayan at sa kapayaaan,” said the Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP), General Romeo S Brawner Jr PA, the Guest of Honor and Speaker.

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP) General Romeo S Brawner Jr, welcomed the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea (ROK) to the Philippines, His Excellency Lee Sang-Hwa in an Introductory Courtesy Call on October 10 at the AFP Headquarters. 

“We are indeed very honored that you came to visit us. It goes to show the importance and value that you give to the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the relationship of our Armed Forces,” said the CSAFP as he conveyed his gratitude to the envoy.

CSAFP visit to Pag-asa Island

General Romeo Brawner Jr, the AFP Chief of Staff, and VAdm Alberto Carlos, Commander of the Western Command, accompany the Speaker of the House of Representatives HE Ferdinand Martin Romualdez who visited the Pag-asa Island in Kalayaan, Palawan on October 5. 

The party, composed of  Majority Leader Manuel Jose "Mannix" Dalipe, Minority Leader Marcelino Libanan, and Committee on Appropriation Chairman and Ako Bicol Party List Representative Zaldy Co, inspected ongoing government projects in the island.

In a statement, the CSAFP said he was happy with the progress of projects in the island. "The last time I was there, the runway, the surface of the runway was still dirt.  But this time when we landed,  we landed on concrete. It was very nice.  It was extended.  And I also saw that there was electricity already in the area.  The last time I was there,  there was no electricity," General Brawner claimed.

He also thanked the Speaker for proposing to allocate at least Php3-billion for development projects on Pag-asa Island, which will include airport reclamation extension, the naval port, and fishing sanctuary./// (Photo and quote by House of Representatives)

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – LtGen William Gonzales PA, The Inspector General, AFP, and the Acting The Deputy Chief of Staff, AFP, welcomed the incoming and outgoing Defense Attachés of Thailand to the Philippines in a Joint Introductory and Exit Call conducted on October 03 at the General Headquarters.

“We would like to thank you for your services here for the last three years, and I hope you gained a lot of experience. We are very thankful for your time and assistance to the Armed Forces of the Philippines,” said LtGen Gonzales to the outgoing Thai Attaché, Group Capt Soonthorn Pongampai.

AFP wraps up 2023 National Reservist Week Celebration

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The Armed Forces of the Philippines, through the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Reservist and Retiree Affairs, J9, officially marked the end of the month-long celebration of the 44th National Reservist Week in a culmination program on September 30.

Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker during the culmination ceremony. “We are in the process of redesigning our reserve force based on the needs of the times. Hopefully, we can come up with a synergistic, ready, and relevant Reserve Force not only now but lay the foundations for building it and changing the shape as needed in the future,” Sec. Teodoro Jr. said.
