AFP conducts Senior Leaders Forum to promote gender inclusivity

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) concluded its observance of National Women’s Month 2025 with a Senior Leaders Forum on Gender and Development on March 28 here, underscoring the AFP’s continued commitment to advancing policies that promote inclusivity within the organization.

The event, organized by the AFP’s Gender and Development Office (AFPGADO) and led by its Chief, Captain Venus G Gualdaquever, focused on the theme: “Advancing Peace, Empowering Women, Strengthening Collaboration: Senior Leaders’ Forum on Women, Peace, and Security.”

Among the invited speakers were Ms. Susana Guadalupe H. Marcaida, Executive Director of the Office of Peace and Sustainability of OPAPRU, and Captain Norsal D Dimaporo, Chief of the AFP Peace and Development Office (AFPPDO).

The forum underscored the AFP’s dedication to empowering its personnel, particularly women, and reinforcing the role of gender inclusivity in national defense and security.

CSAFP welcomes Canadian Chief of Defense Staff in a courtesy visit, strengthens military cooperation

Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City-- General Romeo S Brawner Jr., Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP), welcomed General Marie Annabelle Jennie Carignan, Chief of the Defense Staff of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), during a courtesy visit today here.

During the meeting, both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to regional peace and security, underscoring the importance of mutual support in joint operations and training programs. General Brawner also expressed his appreciation for Canada’s ongoing assistance in strengthening the AFP’s capabilities, particularly in capacity-building initiatives.

The visit underscored the AFP’s efforts to strengthen its defense ties with like-minded nations, and to solidify its shared commitment to regional peace and security.

NOLCOM Marks 38th Anniversary, lauded for strategic foresight

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) celebrated its 38th Founding Anniversary on April 1, at Camp General Servillano Aquino, Tarlac City, with the AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S Brawner Jr as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.

Also in attendance was Commander, NOLCOM, Lieutenant General Fernyl G Buca PAF, along with other distinguished military and civilian guests. The event highlighted NOLCOM’s significant role in ensuring the security and defense of the northern part of the Philippines.

Several awards were presented to outstanding individuals and units, recognizing their significant contributions to NOLCOM’s mission and the AFP's broader objectives.

Another key highlight of the anniversary celebration was the launching of the Command and Operations Center Protocol Book, an essential document aimed at enhancing operational coordination and efficiency within the command.

“The rigorous military exercises and readiness assessments you undertake not only affirm our capabilities but also strengthen our resolve. In a world where the security landscape is perpetually changing, your strategic foresight ensures that we are always one step ahead,” General Brawner stated, underscoring the command's proactive approach to national security.///
