AFP, US Indo-Pacific Command, and French Navy Conclude Historic Multilateral Maritime Exercise

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The first iteration of the Multilateral Maritime Exercise (MME) between the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the United States Indo-Pacific Command (US-INDOPACOM), and the French Navy concluded on April 29, 2024 in Palawan, marking a historic milestone in regional cooperation and security.
 
Held as part of the ongoing Exercise Balikatan 39-24, the week-long event from April 25 to 29, 2024, witnessed active participation from Philippine Navy's offshore patrol vessel BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PS-16) and landing dock BRP Davao Del Sur (LD-602), the US Navy's landing ship dock USS Harpers Ferry (LSD-49), and the French Navy's FS Vendemiaire (FFH-734), a Floreal-class frigate.

AFP welcomes the Commanding General of the US Army Pacific

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City - LtGen Arthur Cordura, Vice Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (VCSAFP), on behalf of General Romeo Brawner Jr., AFP Chief, welcomed General Charles Flynn, Commanding General, US Army Pacific, on a courtesy visit here on April 29, 2024.
 
The meeting marked a significant milestone in the longstanding alliance between the AFP and the United States Army, underscoring the mutual commitment to enhancing military collaboration. The two parties had constructive discussions on a wide range of strategic issues, including defense cooperation, multidomain awareness, joint training exercises, and shared regional security challenges.

AFP detects unauthorized presence of China research vessel near Catanduanes

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- The Armed Forces of the Philippines  has been monitoring the unauthorized presence of a Chinese-flagged research vessel, "SHEN KUO," in the vicinity northeast of Viga, Catanduanes. 

The vessel was first sighted on April 25, 60.9 nautical miles east off Rapu-Rapu Island, Albay. 

AFP Chief of Staff underscores Reserve Force importance in territorial defense at 103rd RRIBn Change of Command Ceremony

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City -- In a significant gesture of recognition and support, AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo S Brawner Jr attended the 103rd (La Union) Ready Reserve Infantry Battalion (103rd RRIBn) Change of Command Ceremony on April 27, 2024, at the La Union Convention Center in San Fernando, La Union.

With Major General Romulo A Manuel Jr, PA,  who presided over the ceremony, the event signifies the passing of the baton from outgoing Acting Battalion Commander Colonel Ramon F Laudencia MNSA PA (Res), to the incoming Acting Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Francisco Emmanuel R Ortega III, PA (Res).

Maritime Search and Rescue Exercise held in West Philippine Sea

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City — As part of the Balikatan Exercise 39-2024’s Multilateral Maritime Exercise (MME), the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the United States Indo-Pacific Command (US-INDOPACOM), and the French Navy conducted a joint Maritime Search and Rescue (MSAR) exercise on April 28 in the West Philippine Sea.

The participating naval ships for the MSAR include the Philippine Navy's offshore patrol vessel BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PS-16) and landing dock BRP Davao Del Sur (LD-602), the US Navy's landing ship dock USS Harpers Ferry (LSD-49), and the French Navy's FS Vendemiaire (FFH-734), a Floreal-class frigate.
