8 Abu Sayyaf Group members surrender to AFP in Sulu

Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City - Eight Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) members abandoned their armed struggle and submitted themselves to the military in Sulu on Thursday morning, March 31.

The surrenderees were presented to Maj. Gen. Ignatius Patrimonio, Commander of Joint Task Force Sulu and members of Talipao Municipal Task Force to End Local Armed Conflict (MTF-ELAC) at Talipao Municipal Hall, Barangay Bilaan, Talipao, Sulu.

AFP acquires Short Sherpa transport aircraft

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) acquired a Short Sherpa military transport aircraft previously owned by the Semirara Mining and Power Corporation on Friday, April 1.

The Short Brothers & Harland SD3-30 Aircraft was turned over to the Philippine Army in a ceremony held at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Pasay City.

AFP, U.S. Military hold Balikatan's Combined Arms Live Fire Exercise in Tarlac

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City - Filipino and American service members successfully completed the Combined Arms Live Fire Exercises (CALFEX) at Colonel Ernesto Ravina Air Base in Capas, Tarlac on Thursday, March 31. 

The CALFEX was among the highlights of this year’s Balikatan Exercises being conducted by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and United States Indo-Pacific Command from March 28 to April 8, 2022.

PH, US Conduct Balikatan's Amphibious Exercise in Cagayan Valley

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – Philippine and United States armed forces conducted a bilateral amphibious exercise (AMPHIBEX) on March 31, 2022 in the vicinity of Claveria, Cagayan Valley as part of the 37th iteration of Philippine-US Exercise Balikatan.

AMPHIBEX involves the movement of assault amphibious vehicles (AAVs) from L-class ships to shore. It requires the vertical insertion of troops using different air assets of both armed forces. The activity demonstrated the bilateral force’s ability to seize a littoral objective as part of a complex, combined arms operations between Philippine and US ground, naval, and aviation assets.

Balikatan 2022 benefits schools in Cagayan and Isabela

CAMP AGUINALDO QUEZON CITY- Four learning facilities at different schools in Cagayan and Isabela are being built by combined troops of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the United States Indo-Pacific Command under the Engineering Civic Action Projects (ENCAP) of the Balikatan 37-2022.

The construction of the buildings kicked off with a simultaneous groundbreaking ceremony on March 7, 2022. Troops aim to finish building the facilities towards the end of the Balikatan Exercises.
