AFP: Internal security gains prompt focus on territorial defense

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City--The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP) General Andres Centino, said in the First Semester 2023 Command Conference that recent gains in internal security operations (ISO) will allow the military to shift its focus and resources to external defense operations.

“The AFP under the banner of our Internal Security Operations (ISO) continues with the aim of totally defeating the Communist Terrorist Group and other local terrorists. Our efforts have resulted in success with the significant reduction of their numbers and firearms and the clearing of areas where they used to maintain presence; and those countering of their, propaganda, and suppression of their financial and logistics support,” the Chief of Staff said refering to the First Semester Command Conference on July 4 here.

AFP, ADMM-Plus, meet for Final Site Survey of Medical Project

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – With the common objective to capacitate communities, the Deputy Chief of Staff for Civil-Military Operations, J7, MGen Gabriel Viray III PA met with the delegates of the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting Plus Experts’ Working Group (ADMM-Plus EWG) on Military Medicine on July 03, 2023 at the AFP Headquarters. 

The said meeting is for the Final Site Survey of the Project Based Community Medical Deployment (PCMD) Medical Aid Provision (MAP) which endeavors to achieve One ASEAN, One Response in addressing challenges in the region.

AFP Chief inspects Naval Warships in Subic

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – General Andres C Centino PA, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), visited three of the five naval ships docked in Subic, Zambales on Saturday, July 1 to inspect its modern warfare capabilities. 

The Chief of Staff boarded BRP Antonio Luna (FF-151), the Philippine Navy’s missile frigate which recently gained anti-submarine warfare capability through the arrival of the AW159 ASW "Wildcat" helicopter.

CSAFP lauds Marines in territorial defense roles

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City--General Andres Centino, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP), in his visit on June 30 to the northernmost military camps and detachments in North Luzon lauded the personnel of the 4th Marine Brigade (MBde) for its role in territorial defense.

The 4th MBde provides personnel to the different naval and marine detachments including the ones in Itbayat, Mavulis, Fuga, and Calayan islands tasked with maintaining territorial integrity and conducting peace and security operations, and assisting in humanitarian assistance and disaster response.

CSAFP visits troops in country’s northernmost frontier, assures support

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City--In his ongoing philosophy of leading at the front, General Andres Centino, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, visited troops stationed in Batanes on June 29. 

The first area he visited was the Fishermen's Shelter in Mavulis Island, the country's northernmost island where a naval detachment is also located. There he led a flag-raising ceremony at a sovereignty marker.
