Brawner Jr hears Sweden’s pitch for AFP’s multi-role fighter project

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—General Romeo Brawner Jr, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP), emphasized the role of the multi-role fighter (MRF) project under the Revised AFP Modernization Program during the courtesy visit of the Sweden Ambassador Annika Thunborg to the General Headquarters on September 8. 

"The CSAFP and Ambassador Thunborg discussed the acquisition of multi-role fighters and the recent developments in the West Philippine Sea. The ambassador likewise expressed that Sweden stands firmly behind the Philippines in the protection of its territory and territorial integrity as well as the international rules-based order and the 2016 Arbitral Award,” LtCol Enrico Gil Ileto, Chief of the AFP Public Affairs Office, said.

CSAFP to 2023 Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipino Soldiers: be a source of inspiration to our troops and the people

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – With their efforts towards the achievement of lasting peace and inclusive growth, the 2023 Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipino Soldiers (MFOFAS) were recognized by The Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines, General Romeo S Brawner Jr. as they were presented here on September 7. 

“Your stellar accomplishments in your particular domains of expertise and stations indicate your competence, zeal for duty, and fidelity in providing genuine service to the country. You shall be a source of inspiration and role models for our fellow troops and the rest of the Filipino people in striving for excellence in everything that you do,” said the CSAFP in his message that was delivered by The Deputy Chief of Staff, AFP, LtGen Charlton Sean M Gaerlan.

WESTMINCOM CHANGE OF COMMAND

Major General Steve D. Crespillo, formerly the Vice Commander of the Philippine Army, has assumed the role of Commander for the Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom). He replaced LtGen Roy M Galido PA who is now the Army Commanding General. This transition occurred during a Change of Command Ceremony on September 5, 2023, at WestMinCom's headquarters in Camp Navarro, Zamboanga City. The ceremony was overseen by General Romeo S. Brawner Jr., Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Philippines, United States strengthen maritime cooperation in a bilateral sail

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – As a testament to a robust maritime cooperation, the Philippines and United States are currently conducting a bilateral sail in the Philippine waters located west of Palawan.

The activity is done under the Mutual Defense Board – Security Engagement Board framework that aims to develop operational interoperability between the navies of the two countries.

Thirty generals, flag officers, and senior military officers led by General Romeo Brawner Jr, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, receive confirmation on their interim appointments and nomination from the Commission on Appointments on August 30. The list included a colonel, 25 commodores/brigadier generals, and three major generals. The confirmation of appointments made by the President is a Constitutional exercise. It also signifies the AFP’s affirmation of civilian authority over the military as enshrined in the Philippine Constitution.
