21 Terrorists Surrender to Gov’t Troops in 5 Days

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City—Various ground units of the AFP reported the surrender of twelve members of the communist terrorist group and nine members of a local terrorist group with 23 firearms and several other war materials in five days.

On May 21, a certain Darwin Requina surrendered to the 66th Infantry Battalion in Davao Oriental with four firearms and four anti-personnel mines (APM), while a certain Pina Ahim Asil surrendered with one firearm to the 12th Special Forces Battalion in South Cotabato.

AFP Chief visits troops in Negros, lauds accomplishments

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP), General Andres C Centino PA visited the troops of the 94th Infantry Battalion and 62nd Infantry Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army in Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental on May 25.
 
The CSAFP first visited the Philippine Army’s 94th Infantry Battalion in Ayungon, Negros Oriental, and later proceeded to the Headquarters of the 62nd Infantry Battalion in Isabela, Negros Occidental where he recognized the troops’ accomplishments and good performance.

AFP sends relief packs to Batanes

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City--The Armed Forces of the Philippines transported onboard a PAF C-130 aircraft 850 boxes or 7,395 kilos of family food packs to Batanes on May 25 in preparation for the possible impact of Super Typhoon Betty to the province.
 
The relief goods were provided by the DSWD and were loaded at the Tuguegarao Airport with help from the DSWF Regional Office 2, OCD Region 2, the NDRRMC, Philippine Coastguard, Philippine National Police, and personnel of the Tactical Operations Group 2.

AFP STATEMENT | On Preparations for Typhoon Betty

In anticipation of Typhoon Betty (Typhoon Mawar), the Armed Forces of the Philippines has alerted all search, rescue, and retrieval units for humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations in areas expected to be affected by the typhoon.
 
All Unified Commands and Major Services were already directed to muster and check the readiness of HADR equipment and assets; preposition HADR units; assist LGUs in evacuations; and participate in coordination meetings and planning activities.

AFP welcomes South Korean Naval Operations Chief, looks forward to stronger relations

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City –The Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP), General Andres C Centino PA, welcomes the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO), Republic of Korea (ROK), Admiral Lee Jong Ho during his visit to the AFP Headquarters on May 24.
 
The two military leaders discussed South Korea's and the Philippines’ diplomatic ties which was established in 1949. Both expressed their hopes of continuing and strengthening military cooperation and jointness, especially in terms of education, training, and interoperability between the two nations’ Armed Forces.
